DESCRIPTION
First degree studies last 6 semesters. The number of didactic hours is 1800. The number of ECTS points (European Credit Transfer System) that student is supposed to get is 180.
Graduate of Culture Studies should possess detailed knowledge in some fields of studied branch: - knowledge of history and culture theory, culture communication, art history, theatre arts, film, mass media knowledge, area studies, and also modern culture world and culture institutions grasp. The student should be familiar with basic economic culture mechanisms, procedures of getting financial means for culture purposes, including EU funds, basics of marketing in culture and its promotion. The graduate of first degree studies should have the abilities of using basic theoretical expressions, exploratory paradigms and appropriate concepts for studies of culture in typical professional situations.
The graduate of culture studies is prepared for work in: institutions of spreading culture, government offices, redactions, museums, cinemas, ad agencies, PR agencies, non-govermentalorganisations, schools (pedagogical educations required)
The Graduate is prepared for starting second degree studies.

Cultural tourism: description of student profile:
Finishing the speciality provides a) orientation in cultural-civilizational role of tourism, b) knowledge of different forms and functions of cultural tourism, c) information about foreign and national cultural-touristic resources, d) getting to know the rules of strategies of government and self-governments working in this area, e) knowledge of law and financial rules of institutions dealing with cultural tourism, f) scale and character of cultural tourism in Podlasie region.
