What will you learn during your studies?

Cultural studies primarily shape a cognitive approach to the surrounding reality, whilst also developing skills in continuous learning and abstract thinking – which prove extremely useful in later professional life. Lectures and classes in the philosophy of culture, cultural anthropology, anthropology of everyday life, and media anthropology contribute particularly to this. The programme also familiarises students with tools enabling the analysis of various phenomena of modern culture from different perspectives, which determine different research methods. The Master’s degree in Cultural Studies prepares students for active, independent and creative work, primarily in institutions and organisations related to culture.

They also prepare students for work in any business entities representing the creative industries – for example, in agencies dealing with marketing communication, editorial teams of online portals or companies. They also provide the necessary qualifications to undertake third-cycle (doctoral) studies, culminating in the preparation of a doctoral thesis.

The specialisation in Digital Media Communication provides not only a solid grounding in the humanities at Master’s degree level, but also an understanding of the inner workings of digital culture – with all its benefits and risks.

The Film Studies specialisation enables students to explore and understand the specific nature of contemporary audiovisual culture, encompassing film as well as modern media and digital technologies.

Graduates of the Culture and Nature of Podlasie specialisation are familiar with and understand the specific nature of contemporary regional culture and its relationship with nature.
